Mitsubishi has fully redesigned the Outlander for the 2022 model year, with many new interior and technology features to explore. The Outlander cabin design has won high praise for its upscale materials, and the new 2022 model offers more cargo storage space than in the previous model year. The engine, a 2.5-liter inline-4 cylinder engine, has plenty of power for day-to-day driving and offers impressive gas mileage for an SUV. In this guide, we’ll explore the interior features and dimensions found on the new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. To see the newly designed interior in person, schedule a test drive at our dealership in Fort Myers and we’ll be happy to help you explore and compare the Mitsubishi SUV lineup.

Seating and Outlander Interior Features

The 2022 Outlander is one of few compact SUVs with three rows of seating. The first two rows provide comfortable accommodation for adult passengers, while the third row is suited for kids. At full capacity, the Outlander can seat up to seven passengers.

There is more headroom and cabin space in the 2022 Outlander, and in addition, the second row can slide backwards or forwards to provide more legroom in the second or third row as required. If you don’t need three rows of seating, you may want to consider the 2022 Outlander Sport. This smaller SUV has a lot in common with the Outlander but offers only two rows of seating.

In its base trim level, the 2022 Outlander’s interior features cloth upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. For a touch more luxury in the cabin, you can upgrade to either synthetic leather or genuine leather upholstery, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and heated front seats. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is also available.

Remote start and push-button start both come as standard features. Other conveniences in the cabin include dual-zone automatic climate control, which comes standard, and the option to add sunshades for rear-row passengers.

Cargo Capacity & Storage Dimensions

The Outlander is incredibly versatile when it comes to cargo storage options. Even with its three rows of seating in use, you get 11 cubic feet of capacity behind the third row, which is enough for a few grocery bags. If you fold down the third row you’ll have over 33 cubic feet of storage space.

With the two rear rows down, the Outlander has an impressive cargo capacity of 79 cubic feet. That’s an increase from the 63.3 cubic feet available in the previous model year Outlander. A manual liftgate comes standard, but you can upgrade to a hands-free liftgate for ease of use. Additionally, the Outlander offers up to 2,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Infotainment Display and Driver Assistance Technology

Mitsubishi has modernized the Outlander’s entertainment setup, providing base trim levels with an 8-inch infotainment screen. Smartphone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard, while Bluetooth connectivity and two USB ports also feature. You can enjoy your favorite music or podcast through the Outlander’s standard six-speaker stereo.

If you want to upgrade your infotainment system, you can get a 9-inch screen, an additional two USB ports, a phone charging pad, and satellite radio. A navigation system is also on offer.

When it comes to driver assistance technology, Mitsubishi has equipped the 2022 Outlander with a long list of standard safety features. The front and rear collision warning systems will alert you if they detect a vehicle or other object that threatens to cause an accident, while pedestrian detection can warn you when people are on the road up ahead. The Outlander’s automatic emergency braking can bring your vehicle to a rapid stop if you don’t respond quickly enough to these warnings.

The Outlander also features a driver drowsiness monitoring system, which takes note of your concentration levels and driving performance to determine when it’s time for you to take a break. Meanwhile, the automatic high-beam headlights ensure you’ll have a clear view of the road up ahead.

You can add several safety extras, such as lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. The optional surround-view parking system provides you with an aerial view of your Outlander so you can maneuver it more easily into a tight parking spot.
