Mitsubishi Concept Models
The innovators at Mitsubishi often create concept models to show off some of the company’s most interesting features and technology options to the public. While these vehicles often don’t transition into mass production, they can be telling in terms of which ideas Mitsubishi might prioritize in the future. At Fort Myers Mitsubishi, we want you to stay updated on all Mitsubishi has to offer so you can find a vehicle that exceeds all your expectations. Read on to learn about some of the company’s most popular and interesting concept models.
Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer
Named for the Swiss Alps ski town of Engelberg, this crossover SUV concept has four-wheel drive capabilities to get you across the iciest and most rugged terrain. As a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), you’d get a driving range of over 430 miles per charge. This concept is truly designed to take a driver wherever they need to go.
The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer’s eco-friendliness goes even further with the Dendo Drive House (DDH) package. This adds electric vehicle/plug-in hybrid electric vehicle capabilities, a bidirectional charger, solar panels, and a home battery. With this package, customers would also be able to charge their vehicle at home using solar power. While this vehicle might not be on the market, it’s clear that its energy-saving innovations represent an area of focus for the ever-evolving Mitsubishi brand. But more than that, the vehicle’s focus on interior luxury and space makes it as fun and comfortable to drive as it is efficient.
Rugged, energy-saving, and luxurious, this concept vehicle would make an ideal ride for those looking to advance their crossover SUV game. Although it premiered at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2019, it isn’t currently on the market. Mitsubishi has not yet released any information about mass production dates, so stay on the lookout to see if this ride hits a dealership near you.
Mitsubishi eX Concept

The Mitsubishi eX Concept vehicle is a compact SUV that gets its impressive power from a next-generation electric vehicle system. Reminiscent of a nimble sports crossover, this vehicle combines the flowing style of a crossover with the lines of a compact SUV. With a high-capacity battery combined with strong but light electric motors, this vehicle is able to reach a cruising range of 248 miles while staying light on its feet.
This concept model features a twin motor four-wheel drive system for exceptional handling and stability. Other amenities include automated driving technology, next-generation information systems, and advanced safety options. This smart vehicle can also detect malfunctions or abnormalities and alert its driver to take it in for service when necessary. Since it premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2015, this ride has inspired the creation of available vehicles that move lighter and more nimbly on the road.
MiEV Evolution II
This four-motor electric vehicle was literally designed to perform. It was created to compete in the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado. This time-trial competition allows automobiles and motorcycles to compete as they scale a 4,720-foot climb through icy mountain conditions. The temperature, air pressure, and other atmospheric conditions of the climb create a great opportunity for Mitsubishi to understand how it can improve its electric vehicles for all terrains. If you’ve ever safely taken a Mitsubishi EV through the snow, mountains, or any other terrain, thank the MiEV Evolution II for helping you get there.
With a unique four-motor drivetrain, state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries, and a high-output play on the Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric motor, the MiEV Evolution II was built to showcase elevated versions of Mitsubishi’s best features. It even includes an advanced take on Mitsubishi’s proprietary Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive technology. If that sounds familiar to you, you’re right. This technology went on to inspire the 2022 Outlander PHEV, which is part of our current inventory at Fort Myers Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi Mi-Tech Concept
One look at this souped-up concept plug-in hybrid vehicle, and you’ll think that you’ve stepped into the future. With a completely open-air interior that seamlessly transitions into a tough, angular exterior, this ride is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It truly embodies the spirit of an innovative concept design. While you might not see this vehicle on the road for some time, its spirit of adventure will likely go on to influence all Mitsubishi models.
One added features this model offers is a horizontal instrument panel that comes in the same color as the vehicle’s exterior body and extends all the way to the sides of the passenger compartment. Another feature you’ll find is a window display that projects driver assistance information onto the vehicle’s windshield. Mi-Pilot, a next-generation driver assistance technology, can even take the vehicle across unpaved roads. Premiering at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019, this concept model was made to turn heads and demand attention.
Mitsubishi Vision Ralliart Concept
Looking towards the future, the Vision Ralliart concept is set to debut at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. This sporty SUV concept is heavily influenced by the Outlander SUV with the noted addition of more aggressive styling thanks to fender flares, a sporty rear diffuser, 22-inch wheels, and a block-off grille opening. There hasn’t been much information released about this concept ride just yet, but a closed grille represents possible plug-in hybrid capabilities. There are also rumors of a high-torque output. With the Mitsubishi Vision Ralliart Concept, it seems like the future is bright for this iconic brand.
