One of the great things about the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the number of options available. This lets you have more control over how much you spend versus the number of features you get. However, it can often be hard to decide between the different trim levels because, at first glance, they may seem pretty similar. To help you decide between the various trim levels, below is a brief description of what you can expect to find in each.

S Model

MSRP: $20,995

The S Model of the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the most basic trim. Inside this trim, you’ll find a 148-horsepower engine and front-wheel drive. In addition, you can expect to get around 27 combined mpg in terms of fuel efficiency. As for interior features, you’ll get a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth capabilities, cloth upholstery, automatic climate control, and a four-speaker stereo system.

Finally, you’ll get popular safety features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and pedestrian detection. So, while this is the most basic trim, don’t make the mistake of thinking that this Outlander Sport doesn’t come packed with features. Even at the most basic level, you’ll still get a great SUV with a lot to love.

ES Model

MSRP: $22,995

The ES Model is a slight upgrade over the standard S model. It’s a small increase in price over the S-level trim and comes with some great additional features to justify spending a little extra. With this trim, you’ll get everything that comes with the S model but with a few changes. For example, the ES model upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels and adds in LED fog lights. In addition, you have the option of getting either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Getting four-wheel-drive reduces the fuel efficiency slightly, bringing it down to a combined 26 mpg. If you really want an SUV with four-wheel drive, this is the most affordable Outlander Sport trim with that option.

LE Model

MSRP: $23,995

The next step up for the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the LE model. Every Outlander Sport is comfortable and stylish to drive, but if you want to take things to another level, this is the trim to consider. This trim adds in a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats for additional comfort. The infotainment system also gets an upgrade, going from 7 inches to 8 inches, and gets both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. When you’re able to seamlessly connect your smartphone and use your favorite apps through your SUV, you’ll be glad you upgraded. Finally, if you’re interested in getting black cloth upholstery with red stitching, this is the only trim where that is available.

SE Model

MSRP: $24,695

Next up is the SE model, which gains some additional safety features. In this trim you’ll find a rear cross-traffic alert system, a lane change assist feature, and a proximity keyless entry feature, along with the safety features of the previous trims. There are great safety features within every trim of the Outlander Sport, but this trim level adds a few extra touches that can help keep you safer on the road and out of accidents.

This trim also comes with a push-button start mechanic and upgrades the entertainment system with six speakers instead of four. Everything else in this trim remains the same, such as the ability to get both front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and a fuel efficiency of about 27 mpg.

BE Model

MSRP: $25,195

With the BE trim of the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, you get some more specific styling elements. For example, you can get front and back rear bumpers in black with red accents, some red side body graphics, a large spoiler, wheel accents, and a Black Edition badge. The interior and hardware remain mostly the same, but if you want a more unique-looking version of the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, consider the BE trim.

GT Model

MSRP: $26,995

The final trim available for the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the GT trim. This is the trim to get if you want a stronger engine — specifically, a 168-horsepower one — and AWC, which is Mitsubishi’s all-wheel drive. In addition to the stronger performance, you’ll also get upgraded cloth upholstery inside and some roof rails. However, the fuel efficiency of this model is a little lower than the other trims, coming in at a combined 25 mpg. This is typically a small price to pay, though, for the additional power.

Which Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Trim Is Right for You?

To determine which trim level to get, you’ll want to ask yourself a few questions. First, and perhaps most important, you’ll want to think about how much you can spend. If a certain trim is above the level you’re comfortable paying, then you can rule that out as an option. Next, think about which features are most important to you. For example, if you really want the best infotainment system possible, then you’ll likely want to upgrade to at least the LE trim. On the other hand, if you really want an Outland Sport with the most powerful engine, then you should look at the GT model that comes with the 168-horsepower engine.
